Richmond
Richmond, a town in Washington County, Rhode Island, has a population of approximately 8,020. It encompasses several villages, including Alton, Arcadia, Carolina, Kenyon, and Wood River Junction. Originally part of Westerly, Richmond became its own town in 1747. Notably, the Washington County Fair, Rhode Island's largest, has been held here since 1970. Richmond is primarily forested and landlocked, with the Carolina Management Area providing over 2,300 acres of protected land for wildlife. It borders Charlestown, Exeter, Hopkinton, and South Kingstown, and is 35 miles south of Providence.
