Newport
Newport is a scenic seaside city on Aquidneck Island, renowned for its historic mansions, sailing history, and as a New England summer destination. It has a population of about 25,000 and boasts significant historical landmarks like the Touro Synagogue, the oldest synagogue in the U.S., and the Newport mansions, such as The Breakers. Newport was a major 18th-century port, involved in the triangle trade, and hosted the first U.S. Open golf and tennis tournaments. It’s also home to Naval Station Newport and the prestigious U.S. Naval War College. Presidents Eisenhower and Kennedy made Newport their "Summer White House.".
